Georgia Ronice Regnault-Smith, 82, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025 in Wassenaar, The Netherlands, where she raised her three children. Her passing followed a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on March 4, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island, Georgia was the daughter of the late Ronald and Clarice Smith. She was educated at Lincoln School in Providence and earned her degree in Mathematics from Mount Holyoke College.
A true trailblazer, Georgia moved to The Netherlands in the 1960s, where she married Pierre (Peter) François Regnault and built a remarkable life bridging two cultures. She became a dual American-Dutch citizen, embodying her deep commitment to both nations.
Georgia’s leadership and dedication to her community were extraordinary. She served as President of The American Women’s Club of The Hague and President of the Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas (FAWCO), as well as numerous other volunteer capacities. She was instrumental in establishing Webster University’s campus in Leiden, The Netherlands. Her decades of service and contributions were recognized in 2016 when she was honored as Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau (Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau), a distinction that filled her and her family with immense pride.
An avid traveler, Georgia explored the world with curiosity and joy. She was passionate about tennis—both playing and watching—and was a dedicated bridge player. Above all, she was a devoted mother and grandmother, universally beloved and admired by all who knew her.
Georgia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter Regnault, her sister Jody Blish, and her brother Robert Smith.
She is survived by her brother Ron Smith; her three children and six grandchildren: Philippe (Phil) Regnault and his wife Heather Regnault, and their children Sophia and Alexander; Larissa (Lara) Leenhouts-Regnault and her husband René Leenhouts, and their children Zoë and Annabelle; and Alexander (Gander) Regnault and his wife Marine Regnault-Stoel, and their children Nicolas and Felix.

Rust zacht lieve Georgia.
